Four kinds of Pune project, four different door problems
Pune does not have one fire door market. The doors that go into a Hinjawadi tech campus, a hospital corridor, a residential tower and a government building are specified by different people against different pressures. This is how the requirement usually splits.

IT parks and commercial campuses
Hinjawadi's Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park was built by MIDC, and commercial clusters such as Kharadi and Hadapsar add offices, server rooms and plant rooms. Doors here must seal as well as resist fire. See fire doors for data centres and server rooms.

Hospitals and healthcare
Compartment lines and escape routes need rated doorsets whose hardware, seals and glazing stay inside the certified assembly. Acoustic doorsets suit wards and consulting areas.

Residential towers
Staircase enclosures, lobbies and flat entrances in high-rise towers. The rating for each opening is set by the fire consultant under NBC 2016. Start with NBC 2016 fire door requirements for high-rise.

Government and institutional
Tender-driven buying, written technical criteria and document checks. Read why fire door technical bids get rejected before you submit.
Where the fire door fits in the Pune approval route
Fire safety in Maharashtra is governed by the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006, administered by the Maharashtra Fire Services. Applications for fire approval are made through the state's e-fire portal. The route is staged: the provisional NOC reviews the proposed fire safety scheme, and the Maharashtra Fire Services site notes that at inspection the recommendations made in the provisional NOC are checked.
Provisional NOC
The proposed fire safety scheme is reviewed at plan stage, with the door rating shown for each opening.
Installation as approved
Doors are installed as approved: same rating, same construction, with the certification paperwork.
Final NOC and compliance
Inspection checks the provisional recommendations. PMC has advised periodic compliance certificates for certain buildings.
For Pune buildings, the Pune Municipal Corporation fire department is the local authority you will deal with. It has advised that certain building categories, including high-rises, hospitals and malls, submit a periodic compliance certificate from a licensed agency to the Chief Fire Officer. Rules and forms change, so confirm the current requirement with the PMC fire department or your licensed agency before you rely on any summary, including this one.
What this means for doors: the inspector checks that the doors installed are the doors in the approved scheme, at the rating shown, and that they are fire doors in fact and not steel doors with a label. That is why the paperwork travels with the door. Our guide to fire NOC door requirements in Maharashtra covers the door side in detail, and how to verify a fire door is really certified covers the documents to ask any supplier for.
Four doorset families, specified to the opening
Each family is available in single and double leaf, with fire-rated vision panels and glass where the specification requires them. Not sure which suits a Pune project? How to choose the right fire door walks through the decision.
Rated for the duration the clause asks for
The rating belongs to the complete doorset, not to a leaf on its own. Which opening needs which rating is the fire consultant's call; our job is to supply exactly what is specified. If you are weighing FD60 against FD120 for different parts of a building, read FD60 or FD120: which rating where, and for the standard itself IS 3614:2021 explained.
What to send for a Pune quotation
A door schedule is enough to start. The more of the following you can share, the faster the specification and price come back.
Prices depend on rating, size, glazing, hardware and finish, so we quote against your schedule rather than publish a list. For what drives cost, see fire door price in India.
